AFSCME Day on the Hill 2008

AFSCME is In The House

"Eliot Seide, AFSCME Council 5 Director, addresses AFSCME members from acreoss the state at Day on the Hill in the Capitol Rotunda"

AFSCME is the nation's largest public service labor union and a leader in the fight for social and economic change. Minnesota Council 5 is one of the largest public service unions in Minnesota. AFSCME Local 34 is one of the largest local unions in Council 5. All across the country, we're fighting for dignity and respect for the people who do the toughest jobs in America. Join us and make a difference.

Day on the Hill is a lobbying day for AFSCME Council 5 members from all over the state, including Local 34 members. AFSCME members converge at the Mn. State Capitol and meet with their respective legislators to discuss issues of vital importance to us as public employees. Whether it is a budgetary issue or a piece of legislation it is important for us to let our Representatives know how these issues would affect us as AFSCME members and Hennepin County employees.

AFSCME Local 34 has made building our legislative power and presence at the Capitol a major goal for our members.

Remember, we are public employees and we want to have an impact on the budget priorities passed by the Legislature. We are also Hennepin County employees and we want to be able to influence legislation that has a direct impact on us and on the county.
